Introducing our New Look and Mission

Seasons change. And so has Season of Concern.

When Season of Concern was founded in 1987, it was the dawn of the AIDS crisis. The Chicago theater community banded together to support local theater practitioners afflicted with AIDS and AIDS-related illnesses.

Today, thankfully, as the AIDS crisis has become more manageable, we’ve expanded our services to meet the day-to-day needs of theater artists who are impacted by virtually any health-related setback that prevents them from working.

Not everyone knows that.

Not members of Chicago’s theater community—the very people we are here to serve. Nor the general public.

So today, on this, the first day of spring, after a 30+-year wait, we’re excited to unveil the new Season of Concern Chicago.

We’re not just talking about this clean, crisp new website. Or our sleek new logo, made from simple shapes that form stage curtains and a spotlight—the light illuminates an elevated heart.

Or our newly activated social media streams or monthly e-newsletter. Although they’re all pretty terrific, don’t you think?

Rather, spend a few moments under the hood and you’ll find a revitalized Season of Concern, with a dedicated staff and board of directors who have recommitted the organization to a new mission, vision and core values:

Mission:

Season of Concern – The Chicagoland theater community’s fundraising effort to provide financial assistance to those in our community impacted by illness, injury or circumstance.

Vision:

A future where no member of the Chicagoland theater community struggles alone.

Core Values:

Compassion
Care
Community
Confidentiality
Integrity

Tour our site to learn how and why we work to provide critical, short-term emergency financial assistance to Chicago-area actors, directors, designers, technicians and playwrights who find themselves in sudden need.

Keep in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and sign up for our latest updates via our new e-newsletter, here.

And what would a curtain speech be without an appeal?
